Most people who call asking for a price quote never ask what they are getting with the service. If you call four different repair shops, you are likely to get four different price quotes. The reason is because every repair shop sells to their customers differently. Essentially, what you should find out is how much is labor per hour and how many hours are they charging for this operation. Ask for a written quote detailing the parts and labor breakdown, as well as a list of the recommended checks and services required for the maintenance you are inquiring about. It's all too easy to fall for the cheaper priced shop, bring your car in and find out they employ bait and switch techniques. Another common practice is for a quote to not include all the parts that are really needed. The timing belt job on a VW or Audi V6 2.8l is a good example. On this car, if you are replacing the timing belt at around 75k, to not replace the water pump would be foolish. The water pump is driven by the timing belt, and thus, if it fails afterwards, would require the job be done all over again. It's a lot easier to get a customer to come in with a lower quote because you leave parts out of the job until it is torn down.

Read the FAQ section for more information about tune ups, maintenance services, timing belts, brakes. It is impossible to list our price on all the vehicles we service, but here are the ballpark prices as of July 2005($98/hr) for a few of the frequently asked quotes. Of course, please call to confirm these prices due to the fluctuating value of the dollar in the European market is always changing.
